“Crazy Rich Asians” written by Kevin Kwan is a world wind story of when three mega rich Asian family comes together for one huge extravaganza of a wedding.
This book takes the readers on a journey of three prominent rich Asian families and they Crazy messed up trials and tribulations along the way. The main rich family is the Young family. Nick Young plans to take is girlfriend of two-years that he met while teaching in New York City back to Singapore for his best friends Colin Khoos wedding.
One that thing that Nick doesn’t realize is that word travels fast and his family is well aware of his plans before he gets a chance to tell them himself.
The real question is: will Rachel be accepted by Nick’s family considering his is rendered as the sole heir of the family fortune or will the family be torn apart of the new family guest?
I appreciated the writing in this book as it was easy to read and follow along. Considering there were many different story lines going on throughout the book. The titling of chapters were very well layout.
I would recommend this book for any one who is looking for a drama filled, family-oriented book with a little splash of Singapore and Chinese history.
They start out as puppies and grow into dogs! They come in all different shapes and sizes and most are loveable, cuddly companions! They hold a special spot inside the family!
In my whole family we have had a mixture of diffident types of dogs. From big and small to hyper and lazy! All of which hold a special place in my heart!
First Fenway Frank Hadley, he was my family first family dog. He was a miniature Dachshund. We unfortunately lost him in December 2015. It was a very heartbreaking time for me! Fenway and I had such a unbreakable bond. (Please read my very first post. Which is dedicated to Fenway and what an impact he made in my life! https://hadleybooks.com/2017/07/01/fenway-frank)
Then came Scout and Boo who are both Miniature Dachshund as well. These two pups belong to my oldest sister. Boo and Scout were named after my sisters’ favorite book “To Kill A Mockingjay” written by Harper Lee. Both pups came back with my sister when she moved back to Massachusetts from California. Boo lives with another sister. While Scout lives with me and the rest of the clan. Scout and I picked up right where it left off with our special bond. He is my shadow everywhere I go and will be right there waiting to cuddle every chance he gets. Boo is loving life with his life being the center of attention where he lives.
The forth dog to enter our lives was Captain or Cap for short. We got him exactly a month after the passing of Fenway. Even though we were not planning on getting another dog until Spring. We heard of Captain through a family friend, who was helping to find a perfect home for him. His owner loved him, however unexpectedly couldn’t take care of him. Captain needed a good, loving home. We went to go see him and fell instantly in love with him. Captain is a lab/hound mix or Super Mut. He is big and strong but just a big baby when it comes down to it. He enjoys his cuddles and belly rubs and his laps around the house. He has a big intimating bark but will lick you to death if he knows you!
The 5th dog is Penny, Penny belongs to another sister of mine. She is a lab/Pitbull mix and is the most well-behaved dog I have ever met. Penny is playful and could spend hours outside playing and chasing animals of the golf course where her dad works. However, at the end of the day she enjoys cuddling super close to my sister and taking a good long nap. I love it when she visits, and we get a chance to cuddle as well!
Last but not least, is Madeline or Maddie for short. She is my grandparents poodle. She was named after my grandmother’s favorite children’s book “Madeline” written by Ludwig Bemelmans. Maddie loves people and food. Even at the old age of 14 years old, she is still waging her tail and as peppy as ever!
From Fenway Frank to Captain & Penny to Boo & Scout to Maddie all of these dogs have a special place in my heart! From great puppy cuddles and puppy kisses to listening to my deepest secrets, there is nothing that compares to having a dog! Never mind a Mans best friend! These dogs are a girl’s best friend!!

“Crazy Rich Asians” By Kevin Kwan
I have heard great things about this book and the movie! Can’t wait to read it!
“Girl, Stop Apologizing” written by Rachel Hollis is another one of Rachel Hollis’s inspirational and motivational books. Giving tips that women should live by.
My first though when I heard that Rachel had this other book, I didn’t really care for it because I thought it was going to be the same concept as “Girl, Wash Your Face.” However, I was watching an interview where Rachel was promoting this book and how she got inspired to write this particular book. She got her inspiration from Demi Lovato’s song “Sorry Not Sorry” about how Demi has stop apologizing for who she was. I was like if there is a book out there inspired by this amazing artist and song, I am going to read it! That is why a chose the book to read in the first place.
The message behind this book is so important for not just all women to hear but for everyone to hear. I feel as if we live in a world where it seems wrong to want to aim for bigger dreams. That it might be considered selfish if we want to be the center of attention and be rich and famous. This book tells you that you don’t need to apologize for wanting bigger things. If you achieve them the right way with hard work and determination.
This book gives tips about how to balance your personal and professional lives. It also gives you permission to say no when you feel it is right to do so. Rachel also reminds us that in the process of following our dreams, we need to ask for help. Any dream cannot be accomplished by just one person. It takes a whole team of people big or small to helped out. Especially in situations where there is children involved.
I would recommend this book to any one who is sick and tired of apologizing for having the dreams that they have. This book is for anyone who might be overwhelmed with either family of professional goals. This reminds us that it is OK to make mistakes and that no one is perfect and we have to stop apologizing for it!
The Big Announcement is: I am writing a book!
This is something that I have always wanted to do and have had an idea for for a while now. I am just in the beginning stages but I am so excited for this next dream of mine! #hadleybooks #thebestleadersarereaders
