A Book Full of Secrets

“The Husband’s Secret” writen by Liane Moriaty is a twist-turning novel that any women will find a connection too.

This book chronicles the person live challeges of three women as they balance: love lives, marriages, work and ONE BIG SECRET!! It starts with just one letter.

It is full of ups and downs and twist and turns at every coner. This book certainly doesn’t disappoint when it comes to the drama.

When people talk about a movie being a chick-flick, I would call this a chick-flick type of book.

I would recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a easy read/guilty pleasure/mystery book.

Starr The Advocate

“The Hate You Give” – written by Angie Thomas is one of the most powerful, hearfelt, and relevant stories of its time.

It covers very controversial topics. Everything from diversity to police brutality and most importantly hate. These are topics that have been heavily discussed in history but has come back in recent months and years.

As I finished this book, it was wrapping up one of the most hatefilled weeks in America in a while. It started Monday when man started sending pipe bombs in the mail to certain prominent leaders, all because of what their beliefs were. The week ended with a man opening fire killing 11 innocent people and injuring many others at a synagogue just because these people were Jewish. This was a week, we as human beings ask where is all this hate coming from?

In the book the hate was mostly shown between the residents of the community and the police. At an early age Starr Carter had witnessed the death of her two best friends. The first was in a drive-by shooting, where her friend became an innocent bystandered. The second death was at the hands of a police officer during a rountine traffic stop. Both deaths left Starr picking up the pieces and trying to find her voice to speak up for those who no longer couldn’t.

These book opened my eyes to a world that I never experienced and that was police brutality. I grew up with the knowledge that police are here to respect us and that we are to respect the police. However, I understand how people can lose trust in the police and participate in riots against them. I just think that there is a better way to handle everything. I believe that police need better trainning in handle situations. We also need a leadership that can better bring the country together during a difficult time.

This book is a must read for anyone looking for a better understanding of what is going on in the world.
